The Ink Supply Mechanism in this product is an off-carriage type. This supplies ink from the Ink Tank located on the front-left side of the printer to the Printhead via the Ink Tube, Valve Unit, and the Adapter.
The Ink End Sensor is installed in the Ink Tank. This detects that the volume of ink in the Ink Tank has run low.
The Valve Unit is installed in the CR Unit to prevent ink leakage during shipment.
When you rotate the Valve Lever to the front side of the printer, the Cam on the Valve Lever will close the Ink Tube (Valve closed). The closed state of the Valve is maintained by the tension of the extension spring. When you rotate
the Valve Lever to the planar side of the printer, the closed state of the Ink Tube is released and the Valve enters an opened state.
When the Valve is closed, ink is not supplied, so printing is not possible. With this structure, to prevent that, when the CR Unit is moved while the Valve is closed, the Valve Lever will touch the Housing and the CR Unit will not operate.
